Hierarchy
Someone decided what matters
Version one treats every element as equally important, because no judgement has been applied yet. That is the tell.
Tension
It stops being symmetrical
Centred and evenly spaced is what you get by default. Asymmetry is always a choice somebody made and can defend.
Restraint
Things were removed
Most of the improvement between one and thirteen is subtraction. Adding is easy; knowing what to delete is the skill.
Ownership
It could only be yours
By thirteen it carries a mark nobody else could have made. That is the only version worth putting your name on.
